School Story:
My dad had just became an elementary teacher in San Rafael (and Pirate wrestling coach along with Rusty Davidson) back in late 1984; I was recruited to GHS from Rio Grande HS in the middle of the year because I was seeded 2nd in state at the time. The first person I met in the office was Sandy (?) Gallegos (sorry if I got the name wrong - it's almost been 30yrs), she was really nice - in fact everyone I met was very cool which made for an easy transition. During one of our first wrestling match duals, me being one of the smaller guys on the team - I was launched through the paper thing and onto the gym floor while leading the team onto the mat to do our exercises - I guess that was my Pirate initiation - I'll never forget that, we were all laughing like crazy and trying to look like studs at the same time - Lol !! I remember all the mat maids and of course my wrestling teammates. GHS was a fun school, and I'm glad I graduated from there!
